New Manchester United signing Alex Telles has been seen arriving at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester ahead of this weekend’s game against Newcastle.

Telles joined the Red Devils from Porto on transfer deadline day for £13.6million plus £1.8m in add-ons after weeks of speculation that he would make the move.

And it looks as though he may be in line to feature already in this weekend’s trip to Newcastle as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rings the changes following the embarrassing 6-1 defeat to Tottenham before the international break.

Brazilian left-back Telles was seen arriving at the Lowry Hotel in Salford on Thursday afternoon after attending a training session in the morning.

United often use the luxury hotel as their base and will meet there either the night before or the day of home matches.

But with Telles already at the 5-star accommodation, it looks to be highly likely that the 27-year-old may feature at St James’ Park on Saturday night.

Telles played in both of Brazil’s World Cup qualification matches during the international break, securing wins over Bolivia and Peru.

Fellow new arrival Edinson Cavani is self-isolating in an unknown location in the area, having arrived from Paris outside of an elite sporting bubble, and will not feature this weekend.

Telles is expected to compete with Luke Shaw for the left-back spot at Old Trafford, while the club also have Brandon Williams available as cover.

Manchester United are looking to plot their path back to the top. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already brought in Donny van de Beek but Jadon Sancho remains Manchester United’s number one target.

But instead of viewing the addition of Telles negatively, Shaw insists that competition can only be healthy in the squad.

“Competition for any team is a must,” Shaw told the official Man Utd website. “There is competition for every single spot and you’ve got to be ready for it, work hard and give the manager a decision harder than what he’s had to make before.

“Like I said, competition is very healthy for the squad, it’ll push everyone even more because everyone wants to play.”
