Portugal international Gelson Martins has been suspended for six months after pushing a referee during a Ligue 1 game.
The 24-year old forward joined AS Monaco from Atletico Madrid at the
start of the season, after spending the 2018-19 campaign on loan at the
club from Diego Simeone’s side.
Martins has featured regularly for Les Monégasques under new coach
Robert Moreno but involved in a bizarre incident during their Ligue 1
3-1 loss at Nimes on last month.
However, former Sporting Lisbon star was given a marching other for
pushing the center referee Mikael Lesage, after Chelsea loanee Tiemoue
Bakayoko was dismissed, and the French FA confirmed they would be
investigating the matter further.
Monaco have confirmed the banned of Martins for the rest of the season on their Twitter handle.
Former Ligue 1 Champions face a tough test this weekend, as they take o Nice at Allianz Rivera.
