Here is how to get coffee stains out of synthetic and cotton fabrics:

Synthetic fabrics

Removing coffee stains from synthetic fabrics including acrylic, modacrylic, nylon, polyester, spandex and olefin is relatively easy.

  1. First off, use a clean dry cloth to blot up the excess coffee.
  2. Presoak the stain for 15 minutes in a solution of 4 cups of water, ½ teaspoon of dishwashing detergent (not laundry detergent) and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar.
  3. Rinse the stained area with warm water.
  4. Blot up any remaining stain with a sponge and rubbing alcohol.
  5. Wash as normal.
  6. If the coffee stain doesn’t come out at first, repeat these steps until it does. Most stains, unless they are old, will come out after one or two times.

Cotton fabrics

Removing coffee stains from cotton or linen fabrics are also fairly easy. There are three ways to get a coffee stain out:

  1. First off, use a clean dry cloth to blot up the excess coffee.
  2. Pretreat the stained area with a commercial stain remover and wash immediately as normal. If you don’t have a commercial stain remover, skip this step and continue.
  3. Presoak the stain for 15 minutes in a solution of 4 cups of water, ½ of dishwashing detergent (not laundry detergent) and 1 tablespoon of white vinegar.
  4. Rinse the stained area with warm water.
  5. Blot up any remaining stain with a sponge and rubbing alcohol.
  6. Let the fabric dry.
  7. Wash as normal.

Note: For all stained cotton fabric, the stained area should not be dried until the stain is fully removed.
